A Media Library for Innovation and Development in Cameroon

Libraries Without Borders is pleased to announce the organization’s plan to establish MediYa, a new media library in Yaoundé, Cameroon. 
 

MediYa is a re-imagined media library designed to expand access to information and culture while cultivating economic development in Cameroon. By combining library services with revenue generating services, MediYa will promote economic and cultural exchange while being financially sustainable. By supporting entrepreneurship, education, innovation, and training, MediYa will surely be the library of the future.

MediYa will feature a media library, a multimedia center, auditoriums and conference rooms, a business center, and restaurants.

5,000 m2 dedicated to culture, information, and innovation at the heart of the Cameroonian capital
More than 35,000 documents on-site
100 computer stations connected to high-speed Internet
More than 250 conferences, performances, film screenings, and other cultural activities each year
900 m2 of business innovation work spaces for entrepreneurs
More than 10,000 beneficiaries, including 6,000 youth

MediYa’s vision for the future is to put libraries at the center of the African and international political agenda for economic and human development
