Libraries Without Borders / Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (LWB) is an international humanitarian organization devoted to facilitating the growth of libraries and expanding access to knowledge in the developing world.

All What We Do

What We Do

Libraries Without Borders is not simply about giving books away. At Libraries Without Borders, we believe that in order to facilitate sustainable development, we must offer support throughout the whole book supply chain. Showing strong commitment to this belief, we provide the following services:

  1. Furnish up-to-date, well-targeted books and periodicals to support library collections;
  2. Train local librarians, bookbinders, documentarians and archivists;
  3. Provide the support to build or renovate public libraries as well as universities’ or schools’ documentation centers;
  4. Computerize libraries services;
  5. Structure library networks on a regional and national scale; and
  6. Provide opportunities for cultural and technical exchanges between libraries and communities.

Furthermore, Libraries Without Borders believes in a cooperative approach to book donation. Our partner libraries chose titles from our database of books. This way, our partner libraries can choose how to develop their own collections to meet their own needs.
