An Ideas Box for the Refugees in Düsseldorf

BACKGROUND

Since July, 2016, an Ideas Box has been operating in a welcome center for asylum seekers, supported by the German non-profit, Diakonie. In addition to building relationships between the refugees and the citizens of Düsseldorf with the volunteers of the non-profit, this place aims to aid refugees with paperwork and other administrative procedures and to provide fun, educational, and creative activities that facilitate adaptation to the German school system. The Ideas Box has proved pertinent in this context, preparing the refugees for their new professional, educational, and social lives.

ACTIONS

  • Increasing the capacities for action, integration, and autonomy of the refugees welcomed in Düsseldorf
  • Contributions towards bringing a psychosocial support to the refugees and to strengthen their resilience

BENEFICIARIES
