Our primary expertise lies in the selection and the diffusion of educational resources and informational services that respond to the needs of populations. With 28,000 curated resources in 23 languages, we can work in many contexts, from the education of young Kurdish refugee women in Iraq, to the employability of young adults in West Africa, to increasing digital literacy skills of senior citizens in France.
Some of Our Current Programs
Since 2013, LWB has translated 4,000 video lessons and resources to transition Khan Academy into French. The first personalized tutorial platform in the world, it gathers more than 1.5 million francophone users and offers resources in mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry and medicine. Recognized for its educational quality, the content is customized to correspond with all educational levels from primary school to bachelors degrees. The interactive web platform, available since September 2014, offers thousands of exercises allowing students to self-teach, as well as a highly advanced tutorial tool that provides teachers and parents the opportunity to continuously follow a child’s progress.
PROMOTING DIGITAL LITERACY IN FRANCE
With the Digital Travelers program (Les Voyageurs du Numérique), LWB created a civic movement around digital literacy that teaches people with minimal digital skills to employ new information and communication technologies in a useful and responsible manner. The Digital Travelers will be going on a year-long “Tour de France,” visiting small towns and big cities alike to meet with local, like-minded partners and to recruit volunteers.
REDUCING SOCIAL INEQUALITIES LINKED TO HEALTH
LWB developed its first thematic Ideas Box in the “communauté d’agglomération” of the Boulonnais region in Northern France: the Ideas Box Santé – CNP Assurances. This initiative focuses on implementing health prevention activities for children, adolescents and young adults. By offering customized content, this project allows participants to better understand and manage everyday physical and emotional upheavals. Workshops also place participants in the position to produce creative content (videos, theater productions) to be shared with their peers.
